WOODEN TOY CARE & MAINTENANCE GUIDE
Handcrafted wooden toys are designed to endure generations of imaginative play. Because solid wood is a living natural material, proper care ensures your toys remain safe, hygienic, and beautiful.
1. Daily Cleaning & Hygiene
- Wipe toys gently with a soft cloth dampened with warm water or diluted organic soap.
- NEVER submerge solid wooden toys in water, soak them in a sink, or wash them in a dishwasher. Excessive water causes natural wood fibers to swell, warp, or crack.
- For deep sanitization, use SeeMore Toys Wooden Toy Cleaner Wax or a 1:1 mixture of water and organic white vinegar.
2. Drying & Storage
- Air dry cleaned toys thoroughly at room temperature in a well-ventilated space.
- Keep wooden toys away from direct heat sources (radiators, stoves, heaters) and prolonged harsh direct sunlight, which may cause wood discoloration or drying.
3. Conditioning & Wood Nourishment
- Over time, natural wood may lose its natural sheen. Refresh your toys every few months by applying a thin coat of food-grade organic beeswax or cold-pressed coconut oil.
- Allow the oil to absorb for 20 minutes, then buff gently with a clean cotton cloth for a smooth, velvety finish.
4. Repairs & Safety Maintenance
- Routinely inspect toys for rough edges or sharp splinters if a toy is dropped on hard surfaces.
- Minor rough spots can easily be smoothed using fine-grit sandpaper (220-grit or higher) and re-conditioned with beeswax.
